Obituary for Alan Dean VanPetten

Wichita - VanPetten, Alan Dean
62, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019. Memorial Service: 1pm, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Smith Mortuary, Derby 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. During his college days, he helped support himself with his DJ gigs. He went on to be a DJ at some popular night clubs in Wichita. He worked as Production Manager at Kent Audio Visual and was proud of being a Director/Producer at KAKE TV, and also at KWCH 12 Eyewitness News. He also worked with Court TV, filming a couple of trials. For over 20 years, he had his own videography business, working with lawyers and court reporters to produce and edit video depositions, even videoing children's programs and family events. Al was known for his many talents...singing, playing guitar, acting, impressions, comedy, comedy, comedy. With his sharp wit and sense of humor he brought joy and laughter to many people, which gave Alan great pleasure. He was preceded in death by his parents L.L. VanPetten and Izzy Smart. Alan is survived by his loving partner Charlyn Brown; sister Janice (Jerry) Pope; brother Bruce (Pam) VanPetten; and numerous nieces and nephews.
